Job Description

Our Mortgage team is growing, and we are looking for a results-oriented loan officer to assist our senior loan officer. Mortgage industry experience is required. We seek an experienced loan officer who loves knowing and understanding underwriting guidelines, who thinks outside of the box, and loves making things happen for clients when other lenders couldn’t. One who has a passion for growth (personal and team), a combination of high-level customer service and sales skillset, underwriting guideline expertise, and appreciates systems, processes, and operational excellence. This is an internal Team Loan Officer position and will be considered a “Mortgage Expert” supporting our current past client database and incoming leads and referrals, which allows the team owner/Senior LO to focus on strategic growth… growing relationships and systems to make the phone ring even more to help drive growth for the entire team. This is an “inside sales” role and can only be adequately filled by a true, passionate loan officer, mortgage expert, with the capability to find answers quickly as needed, one who loves helping/working with clients and enjoys learning and understanding underwriting guidelines, figuring out puzzles, and making deals happen where other lenders don’t put the effort in. Ultimately, converting applicants to lifelong clients who will wholeheartedly refer us to their friends and family. Key Traits and Goals:

  • Enjoys working on applications, being on the phone, and making things happen, but doesn’t want to have to go out on the “street” and hunt for business. This role does not require that.
  • Eager to prove themselves and grow within the company, with an incentive to increase their income through performance and growth.
Responsibilities:
  • Initial “Mortgage Expert” phone consultation with prospective clients on inbound calls and referrals, and ultimately, conversion
  • If not 100% sure on the best product for the client, discuss options with a senior loan officer and/or team to make a recommendation of which home loan products are best suited, depending on the applicant’s financial status
  • Collaborate with the front-end team, our underwriter, loan processor, senior loan officer, and realtors on behalf of the applicant as needed to make sure the loan transaction goes through successfully
  • Gather financial information to assist with loan applications, prepare loan files, and assess applicants’ financial situation and eligibility
  • Consult with potential loan applicants - answer questions and provide additional information about home loan products to create personal relationships
  • Help generate new business with outbound calls to warm database for check-ins, referral requests, and outbound calls to older applicants that didn’t move forward for one reason or another
  • Think creatively and strategically about preapprovals, products, DTIs, reserves, etc.
  • Monitor and manage a pipeline of applications and preapprovals, working applications as they come in, and engage in client discussions about their specific scenarios, mortgage options
  • Operate within existing systems and processes, as we are always making improvements to enhance efficiency and performance
  • Maintain thorough and accurate notes, fostering clear communication and alignment within the team
  • Collaborate closely with team leadership and members. Play a crucial role in helping the team leadership grow the team, contributing actively to hands-on tasks as needed
  • On-call availability on weekends for updated preapprovals/conversations with listing agents to help get a client’s offer accepted
Qualifications:
  • Some college (Bachelor’s) is preferred, but a high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Understanding of loan programs guidelines and various types of loans, such as FHA, VA, Conventional, and Down Payment Assistance, is required
  • Must be NMLS licensed
  • Excellent sales, relationship, communications, and MS Office skills are vital
  • Must adapt quickly and work well within existing systems and processes
